DESCRIPTION:You might have heard the joke “Estonian has no sex and no future” before\, referring of course to the fact that there are no genders and no future tense in the Estonian language. With 8 dialects and 117 subdialects\, and 14 different case forms it can be quite a daunting task to learn on your own but the pay off is rewarding! To help you join over 1 million Estonian speakers (and 5 million Finns)\, we have dedicated beginners Estonian classes every Wednesday hosted by Maris Saar\, a professional teacher who will guide you in the process. \nClasses are held every Wednesday from 6:45-8:15pm at Estonian House and new learners are always welcome! Ääretute rabade ja hämarate metsade keskel tuleb elada ja elu edasi kanda ka siis\, kui sõda on senise elukorralduse purustanud. „SEL talvel oli kõik raskem\, vaevalisem kui eelmistel\, selle talvega oli midagi valesti. Ehk oli viga selles\, et Leo oli olnud kindel\, et seda talve enam ei tule. Et seda ei tule enam metsas\, midagi muutub\, maailm pöördub\, teisiti pole lihtsalt võimalik\, see\, mis toimub\, ei saa kestma jääda. Aga lehed kolletasid\, langesid\, lumi tuli maha ja kõik jäi samaks. Õigemini läks halvemaks\, surve oli läinud kõvemaks\, kand kõri peal raskemaks. Uue punkri saare teise serva olid nad ehitanud kiiruga veel hilissügisel\, vahepeal jõudis lumigi korraks maha sadada.“\nLilli Luuk (1976) tuli eesti kirjandusse 2017. aastal. Tol hetkel veel tundmatu autori debüütnovell „Auk“ pälvis Tuglase novelliauhinna ning mõni aasta hiljem sai sama tunnustuse osaliseks tekst „Kolhoosi miss“. 2022. aastal ilmunud samanimeline novellikogu nomineeriti Eesti Kultuur kapitali kirjanduse sihtkapitali aastapreemiale. 2023. aastal sai Luuk Loomingu aastapreemia novelli „Mäed“ eest. Luugi esimene romaan „Minu venna keha“ võitis 2022. aastal ajalooliste romaanide võistlusel III koha\, nomineeriti Tammsaare kirjandusauhinnale ning 2023. aastal pälvis Luuk sama teosega aasta kirjaniku tiitli. „Ööema“ on Luugi teine romaan.

SUMMARY:„Kooskõlas“ Segakoor proov | National Mixed Choir rehearsals
DESCRIPTION:Kooskõlas is a mixed voice choir\, established by the Estonian community in Australia\, that seeks to engage with people interested in learning\, singing and performing songs from the extensive and beautiful repertoire of Estonian choral music. \nThe choir’s most recent project was conducted over a two-year period and resulted in a successful audition for and participation in the United Nations-listed song celebration\, Laulupidu\, held in Tallinn\, Estonia in July 2019. With over 70 singers from Sydney\, Brisbane\, Canberra\, Melbourne\, Adelaide\, and regional NSW\, the choir is led by conductor Dr Naomi Cooper\, a specialist in community choirs.
