Occurring each third Sunday of the month, retro-kino! showcases Estonian feature films made between 1914-1991 will be showcased alongside a related short with some additional context and commentary about each film.
This 77 year time period coincides with the release of the first Estonian film “Karujaht Parnumaal / Bear Hunt in Pärnu County” and the Restoration of Estonian Independence and saw many changes and evolutions in the way in which cinema was made and controlled. Technology, political ideology and global movements changed the way cinema was made and dispersed and these retro-kino! events seek to look back at this period with fresh, contemporary eyes.
Each screening will run from 5:00pm on the third Sunday of the month, with films starting around 5:30pm. Tickets will be able to be pre-purchased before and at the door. The bar will be open with light snacks available. Individual screening details will be released with each incoming retro-kino!
