Sydney Eesti Kunsti- ja Käsitööring / Sydney Estonian Craft Group Embroidery Workshop

Ever looked at those dazzling red, black and floral Estonian patterns and thought, “I wish I could do that?” Well, here’s your chance!On Saturday 11 October 2025, Sydney’s Estonian community invites you to the Mulgi Embroidery Workshop — where tradition, creativity, and community come together. 
What’s in store?Mulgi embroidery isn’t just pretty stitches — it’s a centuries-old craft filled with meaning. Circles represent the earth, sun wheels the cosmos, and crosses relationships. Every apron, scarf and Sunday best in Mulgimaa told a story in bold reds, blues, greens and yellows. Think of it as the original emoji system — symbols stitched to say, “this is who I am.”
At this workshop, you’ll:
Learn the stories behind the stitches Create your own unique piece (options from bookmarks to bags, even BYO T-shirt!) Enjoy morning tea + lunch Connect with others and be part of keeping Estonian culture alive
When: Sat 11 Oct 2025 | 9:15am arrival, 9:30am start – 3:00pm
Where: Sydney Estonian House, 141 Campbell St, Surry Hills
Cost: $70 (includes materials, morning tea + lunch)
